Predators Trade Franson, Sharks Trade Heatley

It’s early Monday morning which means it is officially Independence Day, so happy 4th of July to all of our readers. Yesterday may have been day three of free agency but that didn’t stop teams from completing some blockbuster trades.

The Toronto Maple Leafs acquired Cody Franson and Matthew Lombardi from Nashville for Brett Lebda and Robert Slaney. The deal also includes a conditional fourth round pick that depends on the health of Lombardi next season.

The San Jose Sharks made a shocking move late Sunday night by trading star winger Dany Heatley to the Minnesota Wild in exchange for Martin Havlat.

We will keep our “detailed” comments about these deals to ourselves but we will say that two teams made out very well while the other two didn’t. We hope everyone has a happy and safe 4th of July. Be sure not to drink too much and don’t blow any fingers off with fireworks.
